history 1051HISTORY

The Red Ribbon Ride began in 2003 after the Twin Cities to Chicago AIDS Ride ended. The Ride started in order to continue raising vital funds to support HIV/AIDS service organizations in Minnesota. The Board of Directors, Community Members and some staff of the previous event worked hard to ensure the mission continued.

The Red Ribbon Ride is a 4 day, 300 mile bicycle fundraising event that travels through rural Minnesota raising awareness along the route in the communities it travels through. Awareness is also raised every time a Red Ribbon Ride Participant solicits donations from the people they know. The money raised enables African American AIDS Task Force, Clare Housing, Hope House of St. Croix Valley, Minnesota AIDS Project, One Heartland, Park House, Rural AIDS Action Network and The Aliveness Project to provide a wide range of HIV related services that help in the prevention as well as enable the health and well-being of people living with HIV in Minnesota.

Steeped in history and community the Red Ribbon Ride is open to all and is a welcoming place to make a difference.
