JB on the 2017 Red Ribbon Ride! Help me make a difference fighting HIV/AIDS across Minnesota
Here is my July update! One week to go!
We are one week away from the 2017 Red Ribbon Ride and I wanted to extend my thank you to each of you for sponsoring me and supporting the Red Ribbon Ride with your financial contribution. Next Thursday we will leave on our 300 mile bike ride to raise vital funds for HIV/AIDS services, treatment, prevention and awareness across Minnesota. My bike is ready, I have all my matching outfits (you know us gays like to ride in style,) my legs are ready for the steep hills outside of Wabasha, Minnesota, I am mentally ready, and hope to heck my ass is ready. I am so excited to be going on this journey with a great group of friends on Team Firm and I am excited to meet many new friends along the way as more than 150 of us push and encourage each other along.
Together you have helped me raise more than $3500 and I am making my last week push to go to $4000! Be a part of my grand adventure!
If you're new to my Ride personal page or new to the Ride in general, I'd love to have your support to push me up and beyond my fundraising goal. From July 13 - 16, 2017 I will be participating on the 15th Anniversary Red Ribbon Ride. Red Ribbon Ride is a 4 day, 300 mile bicycle ride that raises vital funds for eight HIV/AIDS service organizations in Minnesota; providing treatment, prevention and awareness. I can think of no better way to celebrate my life and health than to give to organizations that help so many across Minnesota. I hope I can count on you to support me on my journey of hope for thousands of Minnesotans with HIV/AIDS and those at risk of infection.
A little humor about my training rides this spring and summer ---Spring and summer training has been filled with many adventures and new sights. I have seen the North Shore between Duluth and Two Harbors on a beautiful sunlit morning though I forgot my gloves and it was only 40 degrees out. Wearing my socks on my hands was a sight to be seen. I biked from our family lake home down the hills to the St. Croix only to discover my return trip was mistakenly mapped with dirt roads which meant I had to double back all the way around, up hill. The week of gay pride in Minneapolis and St.Paul I wove my way across every bridge along the River between the two cities stopping on occasion to feel the support of the Pride Flags waving in the wind. There was the ride out to Stillwater with my teammate and co-conspirator, Jesse, and a stop at the Hope House of the St. Croix Valley for lunch on their front porch. And finally, somewhere near Finlayson (in no-where land) one Sunday morning, I ran into two sandhill cranes and their new young chic. They stood as tall as my head on my bike and they chased me down the Willard Munger State Trail at lightening speed.
