Fundraiser for my upcoming HIV/AIDS Ride
This July my bike & I will fly to Minneapolis to join the Red Ribbon Ride, a 3.5-day 300-mile bike trek that begins on July 21st. Our objective is to raise awareness and funds vital to eight HIV/AIDS service organizations in Minnesota that provide critical treatment, prevention and education. More than 1.2 million Americans are living with HIV and nearly 13% of people infected are unaware of their status.
Taking on this ride has been quite a challenge – just a short time ago biking was my second most-dreaded activity. Since beginning my training in February I have had to adapt and push my limits, which has led me to discover a new love of biking. I now ride 4 to 6 days a week, covering well over 100 miles. I also cross train doing power yoga, boxing (yes boxing!), weights, and even a little running – my biggest dread. The training is still challenging, and the big 300 mile ride is on the horizon. I’m proud to be supporting my loved ones living with HIV and the community at large.
I’d like to do my part to draw this issue out of the shadows and erase the stigma & prejudice surrounding HIV/AIDS. Help support this cause, and help keep this issue in the light. On this trip I hope to raise at least $3,000 for the cause. I’m covering all of my own expenses so 100% of your donation goes to charity. Please donate anything you can. Thank you!
