Dear friends and family~

If you've come this far, you probably already know that for the 3rd year, I'm committed to participating in the 2009 Minnesota Red Ribbon Ride. I'm one of the courageous participants that are taking the 300+ mile bicycle challenge across Minnesota to raise funds for nine Minnesota-based AIDS service organizations.

You ask... why?

My Inspiration to Ride...

A few years ago I visited the Chicago Cultural Museum where I viewed an exhibit called A Pandemic Facing Aids. I slowly walked through the museum gazing at these amazing photos, paintings and installations... I was completely mesmerized by the images. There was one photograph taken by Geert Van Kesteren to this day, which has stood in my mind (photo right). As I gazed at this human-sized photo, I imagined these women to be sisters, I could see these woman's faces and expressions; in one sister I saw determination, devotion and strength. In the other I saw pain, disparity and death = AIDS!

This is when I realized- there is NO excuse for me NOT to ride, contribute and encourage others to participate. I am young, healthy, able and ALIVE!
